CAQM Revokes GRAP Stage-I Across Delhi-NCR
The Sub-Committee on the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has revoked all actions under Stage-I of the existing GRAP schedule across the National Capital Region (NCR) with immediate effect. The decision was taken following an improvement in Delhi’s air quality, attributed to favourable meteorological conditions.
Delhi-NCR AQI Improves
According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) Bulletin issued by the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s daily average AQI decreased from 175 on 15th March, 2026, to 119 at 4:00 PM on 16th March, placing it in the ‘Moderate’ category.
The Sub-Committee reviewed the current air quality scenario along with forecasts provided by the India Meteorological Department and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology. Forecasts indicated that AQI levels are likely to remain in the ‘Moderate’ category in the coming days.
Directions to Agencies
CAQM instructed the authorities from state governments in the NCR and the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi to continue implementing existing statutory directions, advisories, and regulations. These include guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CPCB, and relevant state bodies.
Continued Monitoring
Agencies have also been asked to follow timelines outlined in the Commission’s policy to control air pollution, particularly focusing on dust mitigation measures. The Sub-Committee stated that it will continue to monitor the air quality situation and review conditions periodically, taking further decisions based on AQI levels and forecasts from IMD and IITM.
